The assistant teacher will assist in a Children’s House classroom with children ages 2.9-6.
Qualifications
Candidate should have 1 year experience working with children
Knowledge of child development through course work or other experience, equivalent to or having an associate’s or bachelor’s in related field
Have or working towards EEC certification for assistant teacher
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to take direction and work as part of a team
Excellent attendance and punctuality required
Exceptional organizational skills and cleanliness
Ability to multitask
Candidate must be flexible and be able to respond to change as needed
Candidate must be passionate about working with children and bring a positive and upbeat attitude each and every day
General Responsibilities
In the Montessori environment the assistant teacher's role is to aid in preparing the classroom for learning, assist in classroom management and be a support to the lead teacher.
Work directly with children to provide them with a safe, warm, nurturing and educational environment
Establish strong student, parent and family relationships
Assist in implementing lessons to children ages 3-6
Ensure classrooms are kept clean and organized
Attend regular staff meetings and parent nights
Adhere to all EEC regulations and Pincushion Hill policies and procedures
Administrative
Assist in preparing written reports through an online app for each child (twice a year) including academic, organizational, developmental and social growth. Submit progress reports to the Director.
Update the children’s progress on the online app weekly
Maintain daily attendance
Work collaboratively with lead teacher
Report all accidents/incidents to the Director and complete accident forms as necessary
Attend monthly faculty meetings and parent events
Perform duties related to arrival and dismissal
Adhere to all EEC regulations and Pincushion Hill policies and procedures
