The Position
Pine Crest School is seeking a dynamic and passionate educator to teach computer science wheel courses to students in grades six, seven, and eight. The ideal candidate has exemplary teaching skills, a desire for ongoing professional development, a passion to teach and learn from young people, and experience in computer science and robotics. The full-time position includes collaborating with colleagues to integrate educational technology, robotics, and coding throughout the curriculum. In addition, the Middle School Computer Science and Technology Specialist serves as an advisor for students and supports growth among the faculty in the use of computer science and technology within our educational framework.
The Essential Job Functions
Help build enthusiasm among students in the area of coding, emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, and virtual reality
Implement weekly lessons for Computer Science, Design Thinking, and fabrication in grades 6-8 (approximately 35 lessons per grade)
Create lessons that help students to learn logical reasoning, algorithmic thinking, design, and structured problem solving
Provide opportunities for students to implement, test, and deploy a solution considering real world constraints
Collaborate with colleagues to integrate computer science and technology skills into the core curriculum
Provide professional development for educational technology integration and computer science
Partner with others to coach Middle School VEX robotics team and/or exploratory robotics program
Engage students in using maker toys examples include: microcontrollers (BBC Microbit), robots, virtual reality and augmented reality, artificial intelligence
Desire to seek out and explore new technologies to improve the program Use programs such as Google Apps, Google Sites, Design Thinking, etc. with students
Present sessions at the Schools annual Innovation Institute and Teachers Teaching Teachers on technology integration
Manage iPads using the JAMF system

Education
Bachelor’s degree required
Experience And Qualifications
Minimum 5 years’ experience teaching in an independent school environment
