What are the responsibilities and job description for the Male Summer Camp Counselor (Seasonal) position at Pine Island Camp?
**While Pine Island Camp does not discriminate on the basis of age, this role is best-suited for applicants ages 18-25, given the demands of the job and the proximity to caring for young children.
Job Overview
Pine Island Camp is a 6-week, rustic overnight summer camp for boys on an idyllic island in a lake in Maine. Our summers succeed because of dedicated counselors who genuinely enjoy working with young people and bring enthusiasm to the activities they teach and the overnight camping trips they lead. As a male staff member counselor, you’ll provide guidance, encouragement, and support to the four boys in your tent and serve as a role model for the entire Pine Island Camp community. You’ll foster a fun, supportive, and positive tent environment that strengthens the larger camp environment. This role allows you to build strong connections with each camper, encouraging their personal growth, independence, and sense of community. Counselors also teach an activity throughout the summer, and have the opportunity to lead overnight camping trips. Being a counselor is demanding but incredibly rewarding and prepares you well for a range of professional fields. Note: this role is specific to males because we need male counselors to live in tents with campers. We hire female counselors as well, but those positions have been filled.
The summer season for 2025 is June 14th to August 13th. Candidates should expect to live and work at camp for the entirety of the summer season (with days off). This is not a commuter role.
