Performs intake phone triage, customer reception, registration, external courtesy communication and completes admission in accordance with patient needs. The Administrative Safety Specialist must demonstrate excellent customer service and have enthusiasm about the program and the Pine Rest organization.

What Will You Do?

The Administrative Safety Specialist must demonstrate excellent customer service and have enthusiasm about the program and the Pine Rest organization.
Principal Duties And Responsibilities
- Assists in creating a customer friendly environment by projecting a positive attitude and anticipating and responding to requests.
- Professionally and calmly handles crisis calls to determine appropriate next steps in the assessment process.
- Completes phone triage intake for all CSU admission referrals.
- Works effectively and collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team to ensure excellent patient experience.
- Performs related office duties such as patient registration, insurance verification and courtesy phone calls
- Facilitates and adheres to procedural guidelines to provide a safe and secure environment for staff, patients and visitors.
- Completes a contraband check for all new patients who are present.
- Is aware of the environment and any risk that may present from visitors to the building.
- Responsible for the pre-verification of insurance for patients.
- Operate office equipment, such as voice mail and computers.
- Functional in multiple computer systems including but not limited to EPIC, Healthquest, Cerner and Carelogic
- Process insurance in billing system and entering authorizations
- Review and verify demographics, such as age, name, and address with insured as needed.
- Modify, update, and processes electronic demographic form to reflect any changes.
- Verifies insurance coverage by telephone, resolves coverage issues, and escalates complicated problems to a supervisor or manager.
- Competent in communication and problem-solving skills, able to develop constructive/creative alternatives to resolving issues and concerns. Will utilize customer service skills and be comfortable with customer follow up within scope of position.
- Responds to Code calls, exercising discretion and judgment consistent with the position function, working with unit staff to ensure patient and staff safety.
- Maintains required records and supplies.
- Responsible to role model the mission and values of the organization, presenting a professional image that is projected in appearance, attitudes and behaviors, time management and communication skills. Provides spiritual, emotional, social, mental and physical support to patients.
- Commitment to demonstrating the Hospital and Residential Services Model of Care.
- May provide training to new employees in this position as assigned
- Participates regularly in departmental and staff meetings. Serves on programs or organizational committees as required and as time and workload allow.
- Responsible to uphold the healing ministry of Christ through relationships that honor integrity, stewardship, empowerment, the promotion of diversity, equity, inclusion, and professional excellence.
- Must maintain annual training and demonstrate competency in the required programmatic training.
- May provide backup for switchboard emergency procedures.
- Performs other duties or functions as assigned.
- Associates degree required.
- Basic computer software skills and/or the ability to learn applicable departmental programs and systems.
