High School Teacher - Culinary Arts

Location: Pine Tree ISD, Longview, TX

Position Overview:

Pine Tree High School has an immediate opening for a Culinary Arts Teacher (Dual Credit), with a start date of January 2025. This individual will join our Career and Technical Education (CTE) team to teach courses in the Culinary Arts Program of Study, including Introduction to Culinary Arts, Culinary Arts, and Practicum in Culinary Arts. This position will include teaching dual credit courses through a partnership with Kilgore College. The ideal candidate will combine professional culinary expertise with a passion for teaching and mentoring students, preparing them for post-secondary success and industry certifications.

The Culinary Arts Program at Pine Tree High School is a vibrant part of the Career and Technical Education (CTE) department, offering students exceptional opportunities to develop skills in culinary arts and hospitality.

This comprehensive program is designed to prepare students for industry certifications, post-secondary education, and successful careers in the culinary and hospitality industries.

Scope of Responsibilities:

• Deliver engaging, hands-on instruction in culinary arts courses, emphasizing food safety, preparation, and presentation techniques.
• Prepare students for industry certifications, such as the ServSafe Manager Certification.
• Incorporate real-world skills and employability training into the curriculum, including teamwork, time management, and professional etiquette.
• Collaborate with Kilgore College to meet dual credit course standards and requirements.
• Foster partnerships with local culinary professionals and businesses to enhance student learning opportunities, such as internships and guest speakers.
• Develop and manage a fully equipped commercial kitchen lab, ensuring safety and proper maintenance of all equipment.
• Ensure the cleanliness and safety of all culinary arts facilities, adhering to standards set by the city department of health and other governing agencies.
• Provide mentorship and feedback to students, fostering growth in technical and soft skills essential for career success.
• Participate in CTE department initiatives, including advisory board meetings and community events.
• Co-advise the Pine Tree High School SkillsUSA organization and prepare culinary students for related competitions in partnership with culinary arts teaching staff.
• Maintain an “all in” attitude—when everyone helps a little, the biggest challenges can be overcome!
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Education: College degree in Culinary Arts or a related field (preferred, not required).
• Work Experience: 3-5 years of credible culinary industry experience (required for dual credit approval).
• Industry Certifications: ServSafe Manager Certification or willingness to obtain.
