Pool Manager
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Pine Valley Pool is seeking a qualified Pool Manager to oversee the daily operations of our seasonal community pool. This is a seasonal (17 - 20 week) part-time position, 20-30 hours per week, beginning mid-April thru mid-September 2025.
JOB LOCATION: During the season when the pool is open (approximately Memorial Day through Labor Day), Manager is expected to complete working hours on-site, at the pool. When activities are required in the off-season, Manager may complete hours off-site, if the circumstances allow.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage and oversee lifeguards: Take care of all required paperwork regarding the hiring of lifeguards; Plan and organize workloads and staff assignments for lifeguards; Meet regularly with staff; Advise and coach lifeguards and evaluate them throughout the season; Monitor time sheets and prepare payroll reports
- Oversee daily maintenance of the pool, checks pumps, lines, filter equipment, and restroom facility for proper condition; Make minor repairs or call for service; Communicate with the Pool Board regarding repairs/improvement needed
- Make recommendations for repairs and capital improvement expenditures
- Observe the operation of the pool complex, monitor the performance of lifeguards and water safety instructors, test water quality, ensure observance of safety regulations
- Prepare the pool for opening and closing each season
- Communicate with the pool company for coordinating opening, closing, and maintenance, as needed
- Manage and oversee swim lessons; Establish sign-up process and scheduling
- Instill attention to safety with lifeguards as well as with pool members and guests; Enforce safety at the pool among both staff and members.
- Supervise and participate in pool opening and closing maintenance routines
- Purchase supplies needed to maintain the pool
- Purchase drinks and snacks/Restock snack bar regularly
- Communicate with members in a timely fashion regarding special events and closings via social media, posters, handouts, etc.
- Prepare the facility for fun events such as pool parties, guest days, and other special events such as Memorial Day, 4th of July, and Labor Day
- Communicate regularly with the Pool Board and various subcommittees as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information regarding pool activities (safety, staff, facility, swim lessons, membership issues, etc.), resolve problems, or give/receive advice/direction
- Attend board meetings when invited to present important information regarding specific pool issues/topics
- Create and complete essential pool documentation forms such as rescue reports, injury reports, staff manual and checklists, daily calendars, etc.
- Plan, develop, and implement training programs and handbook
- Develop and publicize rules and regulations
- Respond to citizen complaints or inquiries regarding pool operation or programs
- Create a safe and fun atmosphere for staff and members
- Perform other related duties as required
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to work cordially and professionally with staff members and the general public
- Knowledge of how a pool system works including, but not limited to, filtration, maintenance of proper pH levels, equipment function/maintenance, and chemical hazards
- Ability to be professional, alert, courteous, and tactful with others
- Knowledge of all pool emergency procedures and perform daily facility security checks
- Ability to follow directions, arrive to work on time, and perform duties in specified time frame
- Ability to supervise and manage individuals in large settings
- Must be willing to work evenings and weekends throughout the summer
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
- Must be a Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or a certified Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) by May 2025
- If an interested party has not yet obtained the above certification, must be willing/able to complete the requirements by May 2025. If hired, Pine Valley Pool will reimburse candidate upon successful completion of the certificate.
- Must be certified in First Aid and CPR
- Current lifeguard certification is preferred
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Applicants must be at least 18 years of age with a high school diploma
- Previous management of a pool facility is preferred
ADA REQUIREMENTS: Frequent bending, stooping, standing, walking, reaching and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds. The position also requires constant use of the visual and auditory senses.
PAYRANGE
- $15/hour - $18/hour - commensurate with experience
