What are the responsibilities and job description for the Observer position at Pinebrook Family Answers?
The Unconditional Child Care Program at Pinebrook Family Answers is immensely proud of its unique one-of-a-kind services available only in the Lehigh Valley and in existence for over 30 years. This program uses a wrap-around, strengths based, inclusive and universally designed approach to help children succeed in the early childcare setting when they may be having behavioral difficulties.
Your Role As An Observer
To assist the wraparound team with information, strategies, and recommendations to support the growth of the child received services. The Observer will complete a classroom observation, with the focus on a specific child, in the early childhood center at a time agreed upon by the Observer and the childcare center.
Prepare a written (typed) report of the observation along with inclusive and universally designed strategies that address the child’s strengths and challenges in the classroom setting. The Observer will present the observation report including any recommendations of resources and services for the child, childcare staff and family, at the first wrapround team meeting and explain the suggested strategies.
Complete an initial social emotional evaluation during the initial observation to determine whether the child is meeting milestones in four social emotional areas, and then the six-month social emotional follow-up observation to determine if the child is making gains and progress in those same four social emotional areas.
Core Responsibilities:
- Conduct an in-person observation of the assigned client within the childcare program and provide written recommendations within the provider’s area of expertise.
- Provide training and development for childcare staff and parents as agreed upon with the Resource Coordinator on topics that are in the Observer’s area of expertise.
- Maintain ongoing communication with members of the identified client's team of support as outlined by the immediate program supervisor.
- Maintains communication with Program Supervisor and other Unconditional Child Care staff as needed; brings information/situations of concern to the attention of Program Supervisor immediately.
- Compiles all required reporting documentation and resources for submission to the Unconditional Child Care supervisor or their designee within agreed upon time frames.
