Pinecrest Animal Hospital in Owosso is seeking a skilled full time licensed veterinary technician to join our growing small animal practice. We are a fast paced and progressive 3 doctor practice providing a wide variety of services from routine vaccines and health exams to performing advanced surgical and dental procedures with state of the art digital radiology and full in house laboratory in a modern, clean, and organized facility. Applicant must be able to effectively communicate with clients and other team members in a professional manner and will be responsible for client education including discussing medical treatments and at home care. Job Summary
Busy 3 doctor small animal hospital looking to hire an experienced full-time veterinary technician. Must be self motivated and have a positive attitude. Knowledge of AVImark is a plus. Must be able to work rotating Saturdays (one Saturday / month).
Responsibilities and Duties
- Triage, admit, and treat patients under doctor supervision
- Assist with surgical procedures and processing instruments
- Monitor and provide treatments to current in-patients
- Calculate drug doses and fill medications
- Communicate discharge instructions effectively and accurately to clients
- The technician may occasionally be responsible for receptionist duties when the receptionist is unavailable. These duties include answering phones, scheduling appointments, admitting patients, and settling bills
- Implement isolation protocols
- Perform digital x-rays
- Collect samples (blood, urine) and run in-house laboratory tests
- Maintain a clean hospital environment
- Maintain a happy, collaborative and positive attitude under stressful situations
- Perform triage and take history in an efficient manner
- Ability to learn new veterinary software and accurately update medical records
- Ability to restrain dogs and cats safely and efficiently
- Competency with inducing and managing patients under anesthesia
- Capable of lifting large dogs
- Ability to follow instruction
- Along with various other tasks as directed
MUST BE A LICENSED VETERINARY TECHNICIAN OR EQUIVALENT IN EXPERIENCE!
Expected salary : $19.00 - $22.00 per hour; based on experience
