Restorative Nursing Aide Job Description
Overview
The Restorative Nursing Assistant must possess and demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of safe practices. The aide must also be able to verbalize and demonstrate appropriate knowledge of good body mechanics, as well as the ability to evaluate and document the effectiveness of the restorative care received by the resident.
Duties
· Understands and agrees to the goal of maintaining, improving and/or enhancing each resident’s quality of care and quality of life.
· Performs active range of motion (AROM) and passive range of motion (PROM) in a safe manner to residents as assigned by Restorative Nurse and the resident’s overall POC.
· Ambulates residents as assigned by the RN and the resident’s overall plan of care while utilizing appropriate equipment or device in a safe manner.
· Ensure residents privacy and dignity while providing restorative care.
· Assist residents to apply and remove splints or protheses as assigned by the RN and the resident’s overall plan of care.
· Encourages residents to perform tasks for him/herself as appropriate and as assigned by the RN and the resident’s overall plan of care.
· Provides good body alignment, positioning device and contracture padding as appropriate and as assigned by the Therapy manager and the resident’s overall plan of care.
· Reports to the Therapy Manager/RN any adverse conditions experienced by the resident during the provision of restorative nursing care including, but not limited to, pain.
· Assist residents with feeding through verbal cueing and tactile cueing, utilizing any special utensil required such as place, large handle cup, Velcro held spoon, etc.
· Monitors and assists with the performance of Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) to promote resident involvement to the highest extent possible without resident decline unless the decline is documented as unavoidable.
· Evaluates and documents the resident’s progress in compliance with State, Federal and Facility policies, communicates results to the R and seeks input and supervision from the RN to confirm findings.
· Practices good body mechanics while delivering restorative nursing care to prevent injuries to self or to others.
· Cooperates with licensed rehabilitative therapists when providing restorative nursing care to residents when appropriate.
· Obtain height and weight upon admission/readmission (if resident arrives during scheduled time), weekly weights and monthly weights of designated residents.
· Any other duties as assigned.
· You could and will be pulled to the floor when needed as resident care will always come first, you will be the last resort when all other efforts have failed or until other coverage has been found to relieve you.
· Assist with van runs as needed.

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $17.90 - $19.21 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 64 per week
