The Respiratory Therapist assists the physicians in performing all pulmonary function testing and assists physicians and nursing personnel during clinical hours whenever possible. This individual will need to have a proficient knowledge of pulmonary testing and the problems associated with a pulmonary patient. In addition, they will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of all pulmonary equipment.
A day in the life of a PMC Respiratory Therapist may include:
•Assisting the physician in pulmonary stress testing.
•Running pulmonary function testing in the pulmonary lab, including bronchial provocation.
•Manages the equipment necessary for all pulmonary testing and orders supplies needed for pulmonary testing.
•Works with Pulmonary RN in maintaining emergency equipment, supplies, and clinic staff readiness regarding emergency situations.
• Performs abg/6 minute walking test with oxygen set, titrations, and prescriptions.
•Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Education (Including Licenses and Certifications): Associate Degree in Respiratory Therapy required. ACLS certified required. Active license/registration according to the standards for the state of North Carolina for Respiratory Therapists.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience: Six months of experience in a clinical or hospital environment in Respiratory Therapy preferred.
