Description
SUMMARY:
Mammography Technologists operate a mammography unit to produce images of the breasts for diagnostic purposes under direction of a physician.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Explain the mammography procedure to patients
- Position and immobilize the patient’s breast in unit
- Observe the scanning process
- Monitors the video display of the area being scanned and adjusting the density or contrast to improve picture quality
- Review and evaluate the film or image recording plate to determine if images are satisfactory for diagnostic purposes
- Use radiation safety measures and protection devices
- Comply with government regulations
- Ensure safety of patients and staff
Requirements
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent experience
- Associate's Degree or equivalent experience preferred
- Active R.T.(R)(M) certification or equivalent
- Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- 1-2 years Mammography experience preferred
