Description
SUMMARY:
The Scope Processor assures that every tool has been cleaned and sterilized before it is used on a patient. They may also routinely inspect pieces of equipment to make sure they are still working properly and find new tools when needed.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Operate and maintain steam autoclaves, keeping records of loads completed, items in loads, and maintenance procedures performed:
- Clean medical equipment
- Maintain medical equipment or instruments
- Prepare medical instruments or equipment for use
- Clean instruments to prepare them for sterilization
- Record sterilizer test results
- Refer to the department policy and procedure manual for procedure specific personal protective equipment requirements
- Organize and assemble routine or specialty surgical instrument trays or other sterilized supplies, filling special requests as needed
- Examine equipment:
- Detect leaks, worn or loose parts, or other indications of disrepair.
- Watch gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly
- Report defective parts to the proper sources
- Wear Common Protective or Safety Equipment such as Safety Shoes, Glasses, Gloves, for Protection against exposure to bloodborne pathogens
- Stock supplies as needed
- Assist with obtaining vital signs and escorting patients through visit
- Clean exam rooms and common areas as required
- Proactively assist in the management of clinic fiscal responsibility by using supplies and equipment prudently
- Maintains patient confidence by keeping information confidential
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Degree or equivalent
- Knowledge of infection control, sterile technique and basic health and safety precautions applicable for work in a clinic setting
- Use and apply medical terminology appropriately
- Thorough knowledge of general clinical principles, methodology and measures for outcomes
- Administrative skills necessary to effectively manage office practice
- Requires ability to stand for up to eight hours a day, bend, reach, squat, kneel, move, and lift up to 20lbs
