Pineland Farms Dairy Company (PFDC) proudly sources milk from local dairy farmers to create award winning cheese in our Bangor, Maine food manufacturing facility. We are looking for a full time employee to join our Conversion and Packaging team, which prepares our cheese for shipment to customers. The schedule for this position is Monday – Friday, 7:00 am – 3:30 pm, with a flexible end time based on cleaning and sanitation inspections, occasionally resulting in overtime. Starting pay is $17.50/hour. This position requires the ability to work in a cold environment, with temperatures between 38 and 42 degrees Fahrenheit.
Key Responsibilities:
In our Cut and Wrap Room, team members convert bulk cheese into retail packaging.
- Cut and package manufactured products from 40 pound blocks to a smaller, finished form (cups, bags, bars, blocks).
- Operate basic to complex machinery, including pneumatic cutters and automated wrapping line.
- Accurately weigh and portion products as specified.
- Visually inspect product as it is processed and packaged for any defects or issues.
- Clean and sanitize all areas of the room at the end of daily operation, including equipment, floors, walls, and ceiling in accordance with Quality Assurance standards.
In our Packaging area, team members label, box, and finalize orders before shipping to customers.
- Label and package product into finished cases for shipment.
- Operate basic to complex machinery, including label machine and metal detector.
- Use the enterprise software system (E21) to find work orders, create labels, and enter finished goods.
- Visually inspect product as it is processed and packaged for any defects or issues.
- Accurately complete work orders to record product created in accordance with inventory control standards.
General:
- Execute assigned duties with minimal supervision in a satisfactory and timely manner
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures
- Maintain Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and sanitation procedures
- Perform all other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Reading & writing proficiency (English language); may require reading and interpreting manuals
- Basic math skills (demonstrated understanding and ability to do simple calculations)
- Strong preference given to candidates with food service experience; manufacturing or warehouse experience also helpful
- Ability to work well as part of a team
- Good communication skills
- Ability to multi-task and adapt to changing priorities
