Performs full performance Electrical/Mechanical Technician work specializing in the installation, modification, fabrication, repair, and maintenance of electrical and/or heavy mechanical equipment and systems; utilizes knowledge in electrical, plumbing, welding, or other trades to locate and correct industrial systems malfunctions and heavy operating equipment improvements, as well as County properties, facilities, equipment, pumping systems, conveyor systems, and lines or devices, electrical and mechanical equipment used in production facility and plant operations, treatment and transmission of potable water, wastewater and distribution of reclaimed water, large conveyor systems, hydraulic transportation screening/passenger, and other industrial electrical/mechanical equipment.
This position is located at: South Cross Bayou AWRF, 7401 54th Avenue North, St. Petersburg FL 33709 with a work schedule of Monday – Friday; 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Electrical/Mechanical Technician
Performs full performance Electrical/Mechanical Technician work specializing in the installation, modification, fabrication, repair, and maintenance of electrical and/or heavy mechanical equipment and systems; utilizes knowledge in electrical, plumbing, welding, or other trades to locate and correct industrial systems malfunctions and heavy operating equipment improvements, as well as County properties, facilities, equipment, pumping systems, conveyor systems, and lines or devices, electrical and mechanical equipment used in production facility and plant operations, treatment and transmission of potable water, wastewater and distribution of reclaimed water, large conveyor systems, hydraulic transportation screening/passenger, and other industrial electrical/mechanical equipment.
This position is located at: South Cross Bayou AWRF, 7401 54th Avenue North, St. Petersburg FL 33709 with a work schedule of Monday – Friday; 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
What Will You Do?
- Repair and maintenance of various types of equipment related to wastewater and water treatment facilities.
- Trouble shooting mechanical equipment such as pumps, motors, gearboxes, turbines, compressors, generators, chemical feed systems; control panels.
- Perform electrical trouble shooting and repair on supply and control components.
- Perform welding and fabrication of equipment.
- Repair metal/PVC piping and fittings.
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on process equipment.
- Generate Work Management - City Works EAM.
- Generate Order Requests for material purchase.
- Work with spread sheet applications to generate equipment reports.
- Work various hours or shifts as needed or assigned.
- Utilize work management system to produce spread sheet applications and equipment reports.
- Daily use of various software applications to perform job duties.
- Perform Standby rotation and after-hours call-out duties required for field operations and emergency events.
- Participate in mandatory Emergency Response Plan Phase - 1 or Phase - 2 as delineated.
- Completion of a two-year technical or vocational program in mechanical skilled or electrical trades in Wastewater Treatment Plant Maintenance; or
- Two (2) years of journeyman experience in the maintenance and repair of heavy mechanical equipment and machinery in Wastewater Treatment Plant Maintenance; or
- An equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
- Must be able to perform Standby rotation and after-hours call-out duties required for field operations and emergency events.
- Possession and maintenance of a valid State of Florida Commercial Driver's License "A" upon hire with eligibility based upon evaluation of a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) driving report.
- Assignment to work a variety of work schedules including compulsory work periods in special, emergency, and/or disaster situations.
- Welding and fabrication experience.
