Landscaping and Facilities group maintains landscaping and various needs at 4 facilities. The work performed is heavy labor, and mostly outdoor work in all types of weather elements. This work includes but is not limited to mowing, String trimming, Edging, landscaping, grounds maintenance, ditch cleaning, litter pickup, Employees in this position may also complete inventory, inspections, and maintenance of tools and equipment. Our Maintenance employees can be moved to a different crew performing any of the tasks previously mentioned whenever the need arises. This is unskilled and limited semi-skilled manual labor work. Employees in this class perform light to heavy manual labor tasks in a wide a variety of Landscaping and maintenance work. Some assignments, including elementary equipment operation, may require skills which can readily be learned on the job and many tasks are routine and repetitive in nature and, once learned, can be carried on without difficulty under general supervision.
Work Schedule: Monday - Thursday 6:30 AM - 5:00 PM

What Would You Do?
- Assists in grounds maintenance, mowing, weeding, edging, mulching, picking up trash etc.
- Assists with all maintenance labor tasks within the work unit.
- Assists or performs various building maintenance as needed.
- Performs related work as assigned or required.
- 1 year of landscaping experience; or
- An equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
- Possession and maintenance of a valid State of Florida Driver’s License upon hire with eligibility based upon evaluation of a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) driving report.
- Assignment to work a variety of work schedules including compulsory work periods in special, emergency, and/or disaster situations.
- Response call out/overtime, nights and weekend work.
- Ability to understand and able to implement County policies and procedures and embrace the department's foundational values.
- Ability to verbally communicate with the team and supervisors.
- Ability to take direction and successfully complete an assigned task.
- Ability to physically climb, stand for long periods of time, lift, pull, kneel, and swim.
- Demonstrate self-motivated work ethic and is safety conscious.
