What Will You Do?
- Lead visitor services operations to ensure a welcoming and responsive experience for all park guests.
- Oversee the implementation, management, and maintenance of the department’s registration and facility reservation software and procedures.
- Develop and implement innovative outreach programs to increase public education, awareness, and participation in department activities and offerings.
- Oversee the department’s volunteer program, providing guidance on recruitment, training, and recognition to ensure a meaningful and effective volunteer experience.
- Provide management oversight for special events held at department managed sites and facilities.
- Manage program budget development, tracking expenditures, and optimizing resources for outreach and events.
- Serve as the primary liaison for community groups, local organizations, and stakeholders.
- Train and support customer service and call center staff in best practices and visitor engagement strategies.
- Gather and analyze visitor feedback to improve services and enhance user experiences.
- Represent the department at public meetings, events, and outreach activities.
- Oversee marketing and communication efforts to promote park programs and initiatives.

- 7 years of experience as described above.
- Associate’s degree and 5 years of experience as described above.
- Bachelor’s degree and three (3) years of experience as described above.
- Master’s degree and 1 year of experience as described above.
- An equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
- Assignment to work a variety of work schedules including compulsory work periods in special, emergency, and/or disaster situations.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a passion for public engagement.
- Experience in visitor services, customer experience, community outreach, or volunteer management.
- Background in budget development, and program coordination.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and interact with diverse community members.
- Knowledge of parks, recreation, or tourism industries is a plus.
