The Intern Will Gain Knowledge And Experience In
- Environmental-related codes, laws, rules, ordinances, and regulations;
- Principles, practices, techniques, and instruments of water quality analysis;
- Laboratory equipment, procedures, and requirements;
- Scientific research techniques including the collection of sampling data and preparation of environmental reports;
- OSHA regulations;
- Adjusting, operating, maintaining, and calibrating laboratory, field monitoring, and sampling equipment;
- Reading and interpreting blueprints, plats, maps, aerial photos, and diagrams;
- Mathematics and natural, physical, and biological sciences
Essential Tasks
- Study program(s) of Pinellas County Utilities.
- Assist Section Manager and/or Project Managers with assigned tasks.
- May prepare reports for staff related to assigned projects.
- May analyze and present data to management.
- Some clerical assignments such as scanning or filing.
- Performs other related job duties as assigned.
- Currently enrolled toward a degree in environmental, physical, natural, or biological science from an accredited college or university or on a leave of absence from an accredited educational institution.
- Experience with basic computer software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Some experience with ArcGIS.
- Some experience with Water Quality Sampling.
- Some experience with scientific method research.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to analyze moderately complex assignments.
