Description:
The Resident Services Coordinator is responsible for assessing resident needs, developing and/or identifying programming to meet those needs, making resource information available to residents, and providing linkages to needed services for low-income senior residents living in affordable housing developments. The ability to effectively coordinate services for seniors that allows seniors to maintain their housing for longer periods of time, promote enhances their quality of life and provides for greater incidence of safe, affordable housing for the populations, and to promote self-sufficiency.
Duties:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES

- Develop a comprehensive understanding of senior residents (conduct needs assessments, community meetings, etc.) to offer seniors, the opportunity to assist their community and to guide them towards appropriate services and resources.
- Surveys the senior population to identify priority of needs and solicit input on service preferences. Assist senior residents and property operations staff in understanding those needs.
- Develop strategies to link seniors with needed services, including aiding overcoming various barriers that might impede access to services.
- Establish and maintain partnerships with relevant organizations and individuals, with an emphasis on providing on-site services to seniors and the community.
- Identify the strengths of senior residents for personal development and their needs for supportive services.
- Meet with seniors on an individual and as-needed basis to establish workplans and document progress.
- Research, identify, and link seniors with resources such as rental assistance, transportation, adult education, health services, and employment assistance, etc.
- Maintain confidential records of senior resident interactions and referrals made.
- Establish relationships with government and community services providers.
- Provide community resource information to new senior residents upon move-in.
- Organize community resource displays with information and applications.
- Refer seniors to special community resource agencies as needed.
- Participate in meetings with program coordinating committees.
- Prepare reports and summaries of participant data.
- Conduct senior resident meetings.
- Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
Program and Activities:
- Create opportunities for seniors to get involved with community activities.
- Recruit and supervise volunteers to assist with programs.
- Organize community-building events such as community food pantries, community meetings, educational workshops, focus groups, holiday celebrations.
- Encourage and support seniors in the formation of on-site groups such as Resident Councils and social clubs.
- Facilitate activities for holidays such as Thanksgiving dinners and end-of-year holiday celebrations.
- Exchange resources with other Resident Services staff and collaborate on programs and community-building activities, as appropriate.
Administration:
- Maintain service reports, monthly logs, resident files, and other paperwork.
- Maintain collaborative relationship with Property Management staff to address property needs and resident issues.
- Comply with monthly reporting.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Associate degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in social work or a related field preferred.
- A combination of experience and training would likely provide the required qualifications this position.
- Familiarity with local community resources required.
- Excellent written, communication and organizational skills.
- Florida Class “E” driver’s license and be insurable by PCHAs liability and fleet insurance carrier.
QUALIFICATION PROCEDURES

Ability to:
- Counsel with low-income seniors regarding self-sufficiency, planning, follow-through.
- Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Read, understand, and apply HUD and organizational rules, policies, procedures, and instructions.
- Communicate orally and in writing.
- Organize and present workshops and training sessions addressing family, health, and finance issues.
- Accurately analyze progress toward achieving goals and motivate continued progress.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public, senior residents, and other employees.
- Establish and maintain a network of contacts to assist in providing services to seniors.
- Interact with seniors and agencies in obtaining and providing information in a polite and efficient manner, both in person, and on the telephone.
- Maintain confidential records in accordance with professional and agency standards and state law.
- Use sound judgment to make decisions in accordance with established procedures and guidelines.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
- Office environment.
