What are the responsibilities and job description for the Academic Counselor position at Piney Woods School?
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Maintains student records
Tracks graduation requirements
Advises students regarding college, admissions process, and career readiness
Acts as a liaison between school, home, and community
Works with parents to facilitate their support in their children's school adjustment
Addresses socio-emotional wellbeing of students
Promotes the growth mindset
Assists and develops positive intervention strategies to increase academic success
Facilitates Professional Development training for staff
Develops partnerships with parents and community stakeholders
Facilitates Educational Groups such as Drug and alcohol prevention programs
Obtains and coordinates community resources to meet students' needs
Promotes the vision and mission of PWS
Coordinates standardized testing (ACT, SAT & MAP)
Collects analyze, and evaluates program data
Monitors students’ academic progress
Education/License: Licensed Master’s level school counselor preferred
Experience: Background experience with adolescents in an educational and residential setting, experience in a Secondary School Educational setting
Work Location: On PWS campus
