FOH/BOH Team Member

We are hiring two FOH/BOH Team Members for our Pingala Cafe Chace Mill location, and one FOH/BOH Team Members for our Pingala Cafe North Ave location. We are looking for folks that has a positive attitude, solid work ethic and take pride in their work.

A sample day in the life at Pingala Cafe:
If you're opening, your day starts at 8:00am. First order of operation is to make coffee and set your stations up for the day. If you're opening the front of house, you'll put out baked goods, and get the dining room ready for service. If you are opening the back of house you'll fire up all equipment, get food hot, make cheese sauce etc. There will be 1-2 other people working with you depending on how busy the day will be, and together you'll bust out the prep and portion projects for the day. At 9:30am the restaurant open, and folks will start trickling in for coffee, baked goods, and breakfast sammies. You'll likely see some of our wonderful regulars (our customers are amazing) and chit chat for a bit. As things pick up towards lunch, someone will put on a DJ set, maybe the Isaac Varzim, maybe Disclosure, maybe one of our local DJ friends. After the lunch rush, everyone will rotate out for a break, and you'll sit down for 20 minutes enjoying your choice from the menu. For the last few hours, it's time to pre close, set up the closing crew for success. You and your teammates bang out dishes, restock for tomorrow, wipe everything down, and spot clean the dining room. You work hard to get it all done. You're in a supportive and professional environment, with management and/or owners on site. Sometime around 4/4:30pm the day is done, and you might wind down by going to a yoga class at our neighbors Laughing River Yoga (Chace Mill), or a bike ride along the bike path (North Ave).

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Greet guests to help make them feel seen/valued/appreciated
• Stay attentive to needs of guests. (Hey, how’s it going? Can I offer you some recommendations from the menu? Can I help you find anything?)
• Follow health code standards
• Performing shift duties including opening and closing tasks
• Dishes
• Maintain a clean, organized work space at all times.
• Complete prep projects as needed
• Provide clear, open communication to managers and the team
• Show up with the attitude “happy to be here and ready to work”
• Adhere to our attendance policy and handbook. We are a small team, and rely on everyone to take ownership over their shifts.

Front of House

• Set up the front for success, and close the front, following checklists in place
• Accurately take drink and food orders in the POS system
• Collect payments from customers using the POS system
• Make drinks to order (we will train you)
• Ensure food orders are made correctly by the team and looks presentable for guests
• Package online/to go orders with care and ensure that all orders are complete (include any sauces, drinks etc). Treat guests orders as you’d like for your order to be treated
• Communicate with guests to resolve complaints with a satisfactory resolution and using good judgement when needing to reach out to manager for assistance.
• Ask questions when unsure, help others when you can, and have fun!

Back of House

• Set up the kitchen for success, and close the kitchen, following checklists in place
• Prepare food to order with care, diligence, and speed. Would you serve this to your best friend/family?
• Restock station throughout the day as needed
• ABC- Always Be Closing
• When in doubt- clean

Please note that this position requires you to become cross trained in both FOH and BOH.

Schedule:
We are currently hiring for the following position:

Pingala Cafe Chace Mill
Start date: April 1st
5 day work week
Weekdays 12noon-8pm, Weekends Swing 11am-7pm

Pingala Cafe North Ave
Start date: April 15th
3 day work week April-May, then 5 days throughout the summer
Weekdays & Weekends 12noon-8pm or 4pm-8pm

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour

Expected hours: 32 – 40 per week
