Assistant Buyer

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop and execute merchandise strategies and assortment plans that meet the needs of Pink Lily and our customers
• Manage OTB expectations and disciplines; react timely to business needs
• Manages opportunistic buying responsibility and accountability for sales and margin performance.
• Provides actionable category insights to leadership team
• Coordinate with merchandising and brainstorm new designs/style ideas that align with the brand
• Build style out process to fit the needs of the business and remain aligned with customer needs
• Review sales results to identify opportunity as well as strategize mark-downs and manage aged inventory through strategic liquidation
• Research, select, and purchase quality products and materials
• Review supplier price, quality, delivery, financial stability, capacity, flexibility, and lead times to confirm fit for product and volumes
• Maintain relationships with vendors by resolving problems with invoicing, product, or delivery to ensure quality service and longevity of relationships
• Keep in direct contact with vendors via email and / or phone on a daily basis
• Place official Purchase Orders to vendors
• Develop a strong professional network in and out of the organization
• Monitor stock levels and coordinate restock purchases when needed

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKLLS

• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in apparel/merchandising or related field
• 2 years of fashion buying experience preferred
• Proficient with technology and Excel
• Strong merchandising and product development skills with demonstrated achievements
• Strong negotiating, analytical, and math skills
• Excellent time management and organizational skills
• Eye for design, style, and trends
• Goal-driven and motivated
• Self-starter who can work both independently and with a team

Some travel required.
