Duties
- Conduct thorough examinations of animals to assess their health and diagnose medical conditions.
- Administer vaccinations, medications, and treatments as necessary.
- Perform surgical procedures with precision and care, utilizing aseptic techniques.
- Provide emergency and critical care for animals in need.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation for each patient.
- Educate pet owners on proper pet care, nutrition, and preventive health measures.
- Collaborate with veterinary technicians to ensure effective animal restraint and handling during procedures.
- Stay updated on advancements in veterinary medicine and participate in continuing education opportunities.
- Handle a variety of species including dogs, cats, equine, and other domestic animals.
Qualifications
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited institution.
- Valid veterinary license to practice in the state.
- Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology and animal physiology.
- Experience or training in animal handling techniques, including dog handling and equine care.
- Proficiency in veterinary critical care practices and animal catheterization.
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with pet owners and staff.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while maintaining a compassionate approach towards animals.
