Elementary Counselor
The Elementary Counselor is responsible for offering counseling and guidance for the educational, personal, and social growth of all students. Through direct observation, group settings, one-on-one sessions, and work with teachers and parents to ensure the school curriculum and environment accommodates all students. This position maintains positive interpersonal relationships with students, parents, peers, and community members and provides the best possible opportunities for student development and growth, both educationally and personally.

Reports to : K-12 Restorative Interventions / Counseling Coordinator & Elementary Principal
Direct Reports : This is a non-supervisory position
Compensation :
This is a full-time, 10-month 10 Contact Days position. Salary is outlined in the Teacher 10 Contact Days Salary Scale, which can be found here or on the school's website under 'Financial Transparency.' Essential Functions :
- Provide personal / interpersonal counseling individual and / or group settings as well as both direct and indirect counseling services.
- Provide suicide prevention and intervention services when required.
- Collaborate with students, parents / guardians, teachers, administrators, and staff to provide all students with services related to educational and career planning.
- Understand and promote a positive relationship with students, parents / guardians, teachers, administrators, staff and the community
- Contribute to the development and effectiveness of building and district programs within American School Counselor Association standards
- Ensure proper maintenance, accuracy, and confidentiality of students' information.
- Use formal and informal methods to plan and implement appropriate evaluation strategies for continuous assessment of counseling services and to conduct annual needs assessments of all components of the counseling program.
- Collaborate with Pinnacle Charter School counselors K-12 to ensure alignment and effective programming and support for students school-wide.
Qualifications and Experience :
Working Conditions :
Exposure / Noise Level : Occasional exposure to airborne particles, fumes, and outdoor weather conditions. Normal school environment with moderate to high noise level.
Mental Functions : Analyze, collaboration, communicate, compare, compilation of data, compute, coordinate, copy, direct, evaluate, instruct, interpersonal skills, present, report, synthesize.
Physical Activities : School and office environment, including computer interface. Bend, reach, sit, stand, stoop, talk, walk, and heavy person-to-person interaction with students, parents, peers, and community members.
Weight and Force Demands : Moderate physical activity (lifting, pulling, and pushing up to 25 pounds).
Other : May be required to work outside of normal working hours and travel for work related functions.
Note : In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, during the 2021-2022 school year, school staff are critical employees and are expected to perform work on campus as required.
