Job Description
RESPONSIBILITIES—The Laboratory Assistant is responsible for routine laboratory and general clerical tasks necessary to support the daily operations of the laboratory.
QUALIFICATIONS, must:
1. Be at least 21 years old.
2. Maintain a valid driver’s license.
3. Pass a criminal background check.
4. Have a high school diploma, or equivalent.
5. Able to meet the eligibility requirements for employment within a cannabis business set by the state of Maryland.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
1. Work in a timely manner, while striving to improve quality and maintain accuracy during all laboratory activities.
2. Follow organizational policies and procedures for laboratory operations and comply with all state-specified rules and regulations for cannabis licenses, cannabis transport and cannabis testing, as applicable.
3. Responsible for accurate measurements and documentation of all cannabis and cannabis materials, including sample weights/volumes, compliant cannabis tracking and destruction, and completion of supporting laboratory documentation.
4. Adhere to Good Documentation Practices (GDP) for the completion of laboratory logs, forms, worksheets, or other documentation.
5. Assist in inventory of laboratory reagents and supply inventory including compliant documentation of associated forms and logs.
6. Responsible for cleaning lab glassware and general lab cleaning and organization, including disposal of trash and recycling in designated waste containers, as needed.
7. Participate in and endeavor to complete training and be determined competent for sample collection, and sample preparation using aseptic techniques.
8. Prepare samples, independently, using aseptic techniques for test methods which the Laboratory Assistant has been trained in and determined competent, including compliant documentation of associated forms and logs.
9. Perform all other tasks and duties as assigned by Management, which may include cannabis sampling and transport.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT where essential functions of the job take place, may include:
1. Frequent contacts and interruptions during the day.
2. Video and/or audio surveillance for security purposes where laboratory activities are performed.
3. Use of personal protection equipment to limit exposure to chemicals or other hazards found within a laboratory environment.
4. Potential exposure to loud noises, fumes, or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS employees may encounter to successfully perform essential duties may include:
1. Frequently standing, sitting, walking, reaching with arms and hands, use of hands and fingers to touch, feel, or manipulate objects, talking and hearing.
2. Occasionally stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling and lifting or moving up to 40lbs.
3. Visual capabilities including close vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus.
4. Ability to concentrate and consistently produce accurate work.
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
