Job Summary
The primary responsibility of a Café Attendant is to set up their work station, greet guests, place food orders, properly account for residents charges and/or cash, prepare food as needed, deliver prepared food, clear dishes, clean tables and adjoining areas and wash dishes as needed.
Essential Job Duties
Knowledge of dining room procedures; presentation, service, bussing, customer relations and sanitation. Knowledge of basic food production. Experience in working with older adults. Skill in use of basic math. Skill in the use of a personal computer; capable of using basic word processing and spreadsheet programs.

Physical requirements include frequent lifting (up to 50 lbs) extensive walking, pulling and/or pushing, carrying, speaking, listening, tasting or smelling, bending, stooping, standing during work shift. Workplace conditions include exposure to heat and cold. Experiences constant demands from residents, families, staff and schedules.

Essential Job Duties
- Greet residents and take orders.
- Enter food orders into Point of Sale computer system.
- Responsible for proper accounting of meals-on-plan, cash and credit card transactions. Responsible for cash handling at all times to include cash drawer reconciliation at the end of each shift.
- Prepare food items as needed.
- Deliver prepared food to residents seated in the Café area.
- Package food for take-out orders.
- Clear dishes, clean tables and adjoining spaces in the Café area.
- Perform routine cleaning of assigned areas. Must work to high standards of cleanliness and neatness.
- Participate in set-up and breakdown of Café area at the beginning and ending of each day.
- Attend all in-service training sessions. Unless excused by Dining Room Manager, all scheduled meetings are mandatory.
- Assist with the training and development of other servers as requested by management.
