POSTED ON 4/2/2025

About Us:

Pinnacle Metal Works is a leading metal fabrication and machining company specializing in steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and miscellaneous metals. We serve a diverse range of industries, including commercial construction, aerospace, and industrial manufacturing. As a preferred vendor for one of the largest aerospace companies in the world, we are expanding our team and seeking an experienced Estimator to join us.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a highly detail-oriented and experienced Structural Estimator to generate precise and competitive bids for fabrication projects. This role requires a deep understanding of structural steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and miscellaneous metal fabrication to ensure accurate cost projections.

Success in this role requires a strong understanding of material specifications, metal properties, and fabrication processes. The ideal candidate will be highly detail-oriented, capable of identifying discrepancies in RFQs, and ensuring that project details—such as material selection, finishes, and fabrication requirements—are correctly aligned. This includes recognizing inconsistencies between drawings, specifications, and bid requests, ensuring that all project elements are accurately accounted for before submitting estimates.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze project drawings, blueprints, and specifications to develop comprehensive and accurate cost estimates.
  • Assess labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs to create competitive bids.
  • Prepare detailed proposals for structural steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and miscellaneous metal projects.
  • Collaborate with general contractors, engineers, and project managers to clarify job specifications and pricing accuracy.
  • Source and negotiate pricing with material suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Track bid statuses, follow up with clients, and refine estimating strategies to improve conversion rates.
  • Work closely with the operations team to ensure a seamless transition from bid acceptance to project execution.
  • Maintain and update cost databases to reflect current material and labor pricing trends.
  • Carefully review RFQs to identify discrepancies between specifications, materials, and finish requirements.
  • Ensure that finish callouts align with the materials being quoted, preventing errors in pricing and project execution.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience estimating structural steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and miscellaneous metal fabrication projects.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
  • Deep understanding of fabrication, welding, and erection processes for structural and miscellaneous metals.
  • Proficiency in Excel and estimating software (experience with Tekla EPM/Fabsuite, Bluebeam, or CAD software is a plus).
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills to develop precise material and labor cost calculations.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills for working with customers, vendors, contractors, and internal teams.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, with the ability to recognize mismatches in RFQs and ensure finish callouts correspond to the correct materials.
  • Ability to manage multiple estimates simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience estimating commercial construction, industrial, and architectural metal projects.
  • Familiarity with Monday.com or other project management tools.
  • Knowledge of AWS welding codes and AISC standards.
