Position Summary
This position manages the daily activities of the maintenance staff using metrics, policy deployment goals, and strategic objectives. The Maintenance Supervisor must perform hands-on maintenance tasks yet have excellent organizational and leadership skills.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBLITIES
This is a comprehensive list, but not limited to:
- Planning, coordinating and controlling all maintenance activities. Specific areas include safety, equipment uptime, PM schedule adherence, productivity, budget adherence, project management, and continuous improvement.
- Manage the daily activities of the maintenance staff. Develop staff members by enhancing their skills and abilities through individual performance management.
- Measure the productivity of the department and its members while ensuring continuous improvement of the staff’s skills and abilities.
- Responsible for development and implementation of the maintenance strategy. This includes budgeting, planning, scheduling, and implementing continuous improvement activities that ensure, improved departmental spending, minimal equipment downtime, and improvement in other key performance indicators as determined by the company Quality Management System.
- Responsible for activities associated with equipment selection and procurement, as well as spare parts inventory management and control.
- Responsible for continued development and management of the preventative/predictive maintenance plans and practices
- Ensures the continued compliance with the State of Indiana’s Pressure Vessel inspection program.
- When necessary, takes the lead responsibility for machine modification designs, plant layout changes, and new equipment selection.
- Liaison with Railroad personnel to ensure all rail track maintenance and repair items are dealt with in a timely fashion.
- Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive
- Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy
- Other Assigned projects.

- Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the repair of machinery, building, or other necessary repairs.
- Principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, labor relations and negotiation, and personnel information systems.
- Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
- Determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.
- Motivating, developing, and directing people as they work, identifying the best people for the job.
- Possess solid equipment mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills and working knowledge of PLC controlled equipment with emphasis on Allen Bradley PLC.
- Proficient with following computer software (Microsoft office, Outlook, Auto Cad).
- Good interpersonal skills and written communication skills with the ability to
- Read and comply with relevant laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Knowledgeable in all aspects of Production’s needs.
- Ability to determine the resources needed to accomplish tasks and the ability to adapt plans to changing conditions and scenarios.
- Ability to read, write and speak English.
- Willingness to work mandatory overtime.
