Job Summary :
Hatchery Manager is responsible to provide leadership and direction for the hatchery department, including activities such as sorting, setting, hatching, shipping of poultry, and utility maintenance of facilities and equipment.
Essential Job Functions
The essential duties and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following :
- Provides leadership, direction, and training of all hatchery hourly employees through effective communication, routine evaluations and establishing short and long term goals.
- Monitor activities to ensure reporting requirements and KPIs are being met.
- Develops and implements standard operating procedures for hatchery operations to ensure attainment of goals and profitable operation, including sorting, setting, hatching and shipping of poultry.
- Responsible for oversight of the daily and preventative maintenance of the hatchery operations, including but not limited to incubators, hatchers, and processing equipment.
- Monitors thermometers, gauges, and chart recorders to ensure compliance and performance with equipment standards.
- Developing and communicating staff work schedules to adhere to hatchery requirements.
- Responsible for planning, implementing, and communicating :
- Egg scheduling (transportation, sales, and sets)
- Baby scheduling (placements of grow out barns)
- Maintain safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures, complying with legal codes and regulations.
- Responsible for coordination of coverage for all hatchery alarms.
- Report any animal welfare related issues to management immediately.
- Report any damages to company vehicles and equipment via eMaintenance work order program.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures.
