Job Description:
We are seeking a Lead Engineer with strong expertise in Java, NextJS, and React to join our team in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. This is a 6-month contract-to-hire opportunity, and the candidate must be available to work onsite starting day 1. The ideal candidate will have a proven ability to lead the design and implementation of solutions, breaking down complex requirements into executable plans and ensuring quality software delivery. This role requires both strong backend and frontend development skills, along with the ability to coach and mentor other engineers.
Mandatory Skills & Qualifications:
- Backend Development (Java & SQL): Proven experience working with Java and SQL in backend systems, with a focus on designing robust and scalable solutions.
- Frontend Development (NextJS & React): Extensive hands-on experience with NextJS and React for designing and developing responsive and high-performance UI.
- Solution Design & Execution: Strong ability to design solutions and break them down into actionable execution plans.
- End-to-End Development: Experience in leading the development process from inception through delivery to production.
- Performance & Scalability: Design and implement applications that focus on resiliency, performance, availability, and scalability.
- Coaching & Mentorship: Ability to coach, mentor, and foster a collaborative environment that promotes innovation, continuous improvement, and skill development within the engineering team.
Desired Skills & Qualifications:
- Cloud Platform Experience: Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform) is a plus.
- Agile Methodologies: Experience working in Agile environments and familiarity with DevOps practices.
- Modern Development Practices: Proficiency with tools and frameworks related to CI/CD, version control (Git), and test automation.
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and implementation of solutions from initial concept through delivery and deployment to production.
- Work with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project delivery and that the solution meets performance and scalability requirements.
- Provide technical leadership and oversight for both frontend (NextJS/React) and backend (Java/SQL) components.
- Design for resiliency, high availability, and the ability to handle large-scale systems and traffic loads.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and technical excellence within the engineering team.
- Coach and mentor junior engineers, providing guidance, support, and opportunities for professional growth.
- Ensure all solutions follow best practices, adhere to security guidelines, and meet quality standards.
