Job Description: Sr. Network Engineer (Remote)
Location: Remote with 50-80% heavy travel (must be in Miami, FL, open to relocation)
Duration: 6 months
Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Sr. Network Engineer with in-depth knowledge and hands-on expertise in designing, planning, and implementing campus networks in a cruise ship environment. This role requires proficiency in working with both Cisco and Aruba network technologies, including WLAN, LAN, security, voice, video, and routing infrastructure. The role involves extensive travel and requires presence in Miami, FL. Candidates open to relocation and comfortable with international cultures are encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, plan, and implement LAN, WLAN, Security, Voice, and Video networks in a cruise ship environment.
- Configure and manage Cisco networking equipment including routers, switches, and WLAN Controllers.
- Configure and manage Cisco ISE, Cisco Prime, and advanced network security systems.
- Implement 802.1AC standards and design/setup complex L2/L3 switch infrastructures.
- Utilize Cisco wireless technologies, including Access Points, LAN Controllers, and Mobility Services for seamless connectivity.
- Configure and optimize routing protocols such as BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, QoS, IPv4/IPv6, MPLS, and Multicast.
- Troubleshoot, evaluate, and optimize network infrastructure to ensure efficient performance.
- Work with Riverbed WAN Optimization products for network performance enhancement.
- Experience with Firewall configuration and management in an enterprise environment.
- Provide technical documentation and training materials for team members and clients.
- Develop and maintain expertise in Wireshark, Cisco Spectrum Expert, and other network analysis tools.
Mandatory Skills and Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience with LAN, WLAN, and security network design and implementation. 7 years preferred.
- In-depth understanding of internetworking theory and advanced design principles.
- Experience configuring Cisco WLAN Controllers and Cisco Routers/Switches.
- Expertise with Cisco ISE, Cisco Prime, Cisco Nexus Series Switches, and Cisco UCS.
- Proficiency in routing protocols such as BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, QoS, IPv4/IPv6, MPLS, and Multicast.
- Hands-on experience with Cisco Call Manager, including installation, upgrades, maintenance, troubleshooting, and administration.
- Advanced IP addressing and routing skills with experience in configuring secure routing solutions.
- Proficient in configuring and managing Riverbed WAN Optimization products.
- Experience with Aruba network technologies, including Aruba WLAN Controllers, Aruba Routers, Aruba Switches, and Airwave.
- Familiarity with HP/Aruba ClearPath, and Aruba wireless network solutions.
- Proven experience with network management tools such as Wireshark, Cisco Spectrum Expert, and Riverbed for network performance optimization.
- Experience in designing and implementing Firewall infrastructure in an enterprise environment.
- Ability to create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation and training manuals.
Industry Knowledge:
- Cruise ship network experience is required for this position. Candidates should have hands-on experience in managing and designing network infrastructures onboard cruise ships.
- Experience working with multiple cultures and internationally is highly desired, as the role involves working in diverse environments and locations.
Additional Preferred Skills:
- Experience with Cisco ACS, Radius, ACACS.
- Experience with Cisco Unified Wireless Network Software and Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client.
- Knowledge of Aruba ClearPass and advanced wireless solutions.
- Experience with HP/Aruba Switches, Aruba Mobility Services, and Aruba Wireless Phones.
Travel and Relocation:
- 50-80% travel required for drydock work, with a significant portion of travel based in Miami, FL.
- Candidates must be open to relocation to Miami, FL or be based near the location for efficient travel to various assignments.
