A leading local manufacturing organization is seeking an experienced Plant Controller to run the day to day operations of a busy accounting department. This dynamic role reports directly to the CFO and maintains a collaborative relationship with the Plant Manager and other leaders within the organization. It also oversees a team of financial professionals and partners closely with operations to meet strategic business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise a team of 5 within an established accounting team, including an Accounting Manager, 4 Accountants and an Accounts Payable Specialist.
- Collaborate with the Cost Manager and Operational Cost Analyst to ensure alignment of financial strategies.
- Manage the preparation of monthly journal entries and ensure timely, accurate financial closes (monthly, quarterly, and annual).
- Resolve accounting discrepancies and oversee account reconciliations.
- Support semi-annual and annual audits by providing detailed reports, schedules, and records to external auditors.
- Authorize weekly ACH payroll processing.
- Conduct inventory analyses and assist with monthly and annual physical inventories.
- Oversee tax return preparation for sales & use tax, highway and international fuel tax agreement filings.
- Manage the compilation and submission of quarterly and annual government reports.
- Spearhead the annual budget creation process for the plant and its departments, while ensuring adherence to budgetary guidelines.
- Deliver detailed financial analysis and forecasting to guide decision-making across the organization.
- Provide mentorship and leadership to the finance team, fostering professional growth and team development.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
- 5 years of experience in Accounting/ Finance leadership experience.
- Strong data mining experience and ERP systems knowledge with strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, time management and analytical skills.
- Ability to accept and task ownership of new responsibilities in a fast-moving and growing environment.
- Proven track record in leadership roles, with experience developing and mentoring a team.
- Expertise in financial reporting, ERP systems, and data analysis.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Additional Skills & Competencies:
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office and ERP systems.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities under deadlines.
- High energy, self-motivation, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
