Position Summary:
The Lens Washer plays a crucial role in the lens production process by ensuring that lenses are properly cleaned, inspected, and prepared for further processing. This position supports Client mission of "Improving Lives by Improving Sight" by following standardized procedures while maintaining quality and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lens Washing: Hand wash and dry lenses, ensuring they meet quality standards.
- Inspection: Conduct a brief cosmetic inspection to check for defects or irregularities.
- De-blocking: Use a de-blocking cup to remove the block from lenses by striking against a table.
- Tape Removal: Carefully remove tape from lenses without causing damage.
- Team Support: Train employees, act as a lead, or guide work as needed.
- Process Adherence: Follow established protocols and maintain a clean work environment.
Qualifications & Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions and memos.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Experience working in a production environment with measurable standards.
- Good depth perception and manual dexterity.
- Previous experience in an optical lab is preferred but not required.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
- Standing/walking for the duration of the shift.
- Regularly lifting and moving up to 15 lbs above shoulder and waist height.
- Working in an environment with moderate noise levels.
- Handling or working around chemicals.
- Working in wet, dirty, or strongly scented conditions.
- Willingness to work overtime as needed.
Job Type: Temporary
Pay: $16.00 - $16.50 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
