Job Summary:
We are seeking a Production & Repair Associate to join our team. This role involves stacking and de-stacking doors, operating machinery, inspecting product quality, and making necessary repairs to ensure compliance with customer specifications. The ideal candidate will have experience in manufacturing, ability to use woodworking tools, and a strong attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities:
- Stack and de-stack doors to remove cardboard from the middle.
- Operate machinery safely and efficiently, assisting in training new employees.
- Inspect products for defects and take appropriate corrective actions.
- Conduct measurements and weight checks to maintain product standards.
- Assemble doors per instructions, ensuring high-quality and safety standards.
- Implement Lean Manufacturing Techniques including 5S 1.
- Communicate effectively with team members and leadership for efficient production flow.
- Read and interpret production schedules and work orders.
- Perform weekly EHS audits and participate in Safety Kaizens and Plant Kaizens.
- Assist in creating/implementing poke yokes for quality improvements.
- Operate forklifts, KVAL lifts, and other motorized equipment as needed.
- Conduct minor preventative maintenance and troubleshoot issues with Management, Maintenance, and Quality teams.
- Maintain production and downtime records accurately.
- Perform housekeeping duties to keep the work area clean and organized.
- Follow safety rules and procedures, wearing the required PPE at all times.
Repair-Specific Duties:
- Identify and repair newly and previously identified doors with quality defects.
- Use wood craftsmanship tools such as glue guns, palm sanders, sanding blocks, chisels, putty knives, clamps, and application of bondo, hot melt glue, touch-up paint, and putty.
- Restack repaired doors that meet quality specifications.
- Push pallets and door stacks onto conveyors and infeed tracks of the paint booth.
- Complete reject sheets for doors that need to be remade.
Required Knowledge & Skills:
- Ability to read and interpret tickets and customer quality specs.
- Basic math skills (adding/subtracting fractions, converting fractions to decimals).
- Identify defects and determine repair feasibility.
- Experience with hand tools such as sanders, planers, chisels, and putty knives.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to use wood craftsmanship tools to perform quality repairs.
Physical & Mental Demands:
- Ability to manually lift, slide, or flip doors up to 100 lbs with assistance.
- Continuous standing, bending, stooping, twisting, and dexterity required.
- High focus on visual inspection to identify defects efficiently.
- Fast-paced environment requiring quick decision-making.
Work Environment:
- Manufacturing setting with exposure to dust, noise, and temperature fluctuations.
- Expected to communicate effectively with upstream and downstream departments to address internal process defects immediately.
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $17.00 - $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
