Peer Support Specialist
M-F 6a-2 : 30pm

As a Peer Support Specialist , you are responsible for supporting others in recovery from substance use disorder. You will serve as a role model, mentor, advocate, and motivator to recovering individuals to help prevent relapse and promote long-term recovery. You will also represent Pinnacle Treatment Services in a positive and professional manner. As a Peer Support Specialist, you will demonstrate an ability to share personal recovery experiences and develop appropriate and authentic peer-to-peer relationships. This role must understand, and respect everyone’s unique path to recovery
Requirements :
- High school diploma or equivalent, with a minimum of 2 years of stable recovery
- Peer supporter certification through the department, consisting of :
A sixteen (16) hour on-line e-based academy administered by the Ohio department of mental health and addiction services.
Proof of a minimum of forty hours of department approved competency-based peer services training or three equivalent years formal, verifiable experience providing behavioral health peers servicesValid driver license in state of employmentUp to 10% travel as needed
Preferred education and experience :
Associate or bachelor’s degree in one of the behavioral science disciplines from an accredited college or university.1 years of experience working in a behavioral health setting.Responsibilities :
Assist clients / patients in overcoming barriers to treatment and meeting basic needs to promote self-sufficiency.Assist clients / patients with building social skills that will empower and enhance integration opportunities and teach self-advocacy skills that support success within the community.Provide education to clients / patients on how to identify and work through negative self-talk and ways to overcome fears.Provide education to clients / patients around wellness management and recovery skills.Educate clients / patients around community and natural support, and how to utilize these in the recovery process.Provide goal-planning sessions, access to resources, care navigation, and one-to-one support to clients / patients and their families when appropriate.Listen attentively with respect, acceptance, and encouragement.Uphold the confidentiality requirements of all client / patient information and manage all daily tasks and activities consistent with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability), the 42 CFR part 2, and state and federal laws and regulations regarding confidentiality and security.Lend unique insight into substance use disorders and what makes recovery possible.Work cooperatively and respectfully with all teammates, clients / patients, visitors, etc.Perform other duties as assigned.Benefits :
