What are the responsibilities and job description for the Veterinary Anesthesia and Surgery Technician position at Pinnacle Veterinary Specialists?
As a Veterinary Anesthesia and Surgery Technician you will be expected to:
Treat each patient and owner with the highest level of compassion & care.
Demonstrate commitment to further education and growth within a teaching environment.
Develop individualized peri-anesthetic management protocols with emphasis on safe, efficient, and progressive medicine.
Assisting in maintaining efficient daily flow of preanesthetic preparation and case prioritization.
Demonstrating proficiency in placement of peripheral, arterial, and central venous catheters, intubation, and other anesthesia-related technical skills
Demonstrating proficiency in pre-, peri-, and post-operative patient monitoring and recovery.
Preparing, organizing, and maintaining operating room equipment and appropriate anesthesia inventory stocking.
Demonstrating proficiency in maintaining anesthesia equipment and machines including, but not limited to, ventilators.
Patient management with roles including but not limited to: streamlining pre-operative patient intake and client communications, obtaining pre-anesthetic diagnostics, assisting other services (Internal Medicine, Neurology, Surgery and ER) with anesthetic needs, and occasionally coordinating and facilitating patient discharge.
Providing oversight and training to technicians learning and performing anesthesia in other services, and assisting the anesthesiologist in developing training programs and educational materials

Our brand-new facility opened in August 2021 and houses emergency/critical care, internal medicine, neurology, surgery, radiology and cardiology. We have digital radiography, full in house Idexx lab systems, Siemens blood gas analyzer, a GE 16 Slice CT scanner and a mobile MRI unit.

Requirements:
Basic computer skills to use practice management, electronic medical record, and collaboration software.- 1 years of experience in a veterinary technician role. Experience in emergency or specialty medicine is preferred.
- Excellent communication skills (written, verbal and electronic) with the team and with customers
- Fine motor skills adequate for utilizing hospital equipment necessary daily such as syringes, electric clippers, computers, surgery instruments, monitors, diagnostic equipment, etc.
- Ability to stand for prolonged hours, kneel, work on the floor as well as ability to lift up to 50 lbs. on own and able to support up to 80 lbs. with assistance.
