GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Embody mission and vision of school
- Teach, re-teach and enforce school-wide systems, routines, and procedures
- Supervise targeted academic support and tutoring to small groups or individual students
- Collaborate with other staff members and actively participate in all professional learning activities
- Work to continuously improve effectiveness in your instructional practices, and incorporate weekly feedback from weekly observations by the special education specialist
- Use feedback to make productive changes in performance
- Participate in additional activities including field trips, intensive academic support sessions, and other required programs as needed throughout the year, such as parent empowerment workshops.
- Be open to feedback, continue development as a professional, and take responsibility for student outcomes and achievement
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support for scholars with 1:1 designation
- Assist the Special Education Specialist in meeting the needs of scholars through SDI delivery
- Carries to completion promptly, instructional and supportive activities as assigned by the UDL Director
- Assists classroom teachers, performing a variety of tasks relating to the physical and instructional needs of students in a classroom setting;
- Assists in the implementation of instructional programs, including self-help and behavior management as well as instruction.
- Supervising passing periods
QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to perform several tasks concurrently under varying deadlines
- Ability to exercise tact, good judgment, and initiative in dealing with students, faculty, and the public
- Skill in operating microcomputers, word processors, and peripheral equipment
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
- Demonstrate proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word
- Able to identify sensitive information and maintain confidentiality
- Spanish speakers and persons of color are strongly encouraged to apply
COMPENSATION
Salary is commensurate with WA State paraprofessional salaries, depending on experience. All employees receive a full benefits package and enrollment into the WA School Employees Benefits program.
