GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Embody mission and vision of school
  • Teach, re-teach and enforce school-wide systems, routines, and procedures
  • Supervise targeted academic support and tutoring to small groups or individual students  
  • Collaborate with other staff members and actively participate in all professional learning activities
  • Work to continuously improve effectiveness in your instructional practices, and incorporate weekly feedback from weekly observations by the special education specialist
  • Use feedback to make productive changes in performance
  • Participate in additional activities including field trips, intensive academic support sessions, and other required programs as needed throughout the year, such as parent empowerment workshops. 
  • Be open to feedback, continue development as a professional, and take responsibility for student outcomes and achievement





SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support for scholars with  1:1 designation
  • Assist the Special Education Specialist in meeting the needs of scholars through SDI delivery
  • Carries to completion promptly, instructional and supportive activities as assigned by the UDL Director
  • Assists classroom teachers, performing a variety of tasks relating to the physical and instructional needs of students in a classroom setting; 
  • Assists in the implementation of instructional programs, including self-help and behavior management as well as instruction. 
  • Supervising passing periods


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to perform several tasks concurrently under varying deadlines
  •  Ability to exercise tact, good judgment, and initiative in dealing with students, faculty, and the public  
  • Skill in operating microcomputers, word processors, and peripheral equipment
  •  Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
  •  Demonstrate proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word
  •  Able to identify sensitive information and maintain confidentiality
  • Spanish speakers and persons of color are strongly encouraged to apply


COMPENSATION

Salary is commensurate with WA State paraprofessional salaries, depending on experience. All employees receive a full benefits package and enrollment into the WA School Employees Benefits program.
