As a progressive financial institution, we are seeking a dynamic individual to fulfill the role of Vice President of Finance for our Administrative Office in Mountain Home, ID. This position may be based out of the Boise or Mountain Home. Candidates must live locally.


The Vice President of Finance is responsible for directing, coordinating, maintaining, and controlling an accounting system that properly reflects the financial position of the Credit Union. Monitors Department policies and procedures and recommends improvements. Functions as a member of the Senior Management Team, participates in establishing and implementing major goals and objectives of the Credit Union, and serves as a resource in all aspects of accounting. Oversees budgeting, general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, risk management, asset and liability management, capital expenditures, and the investment of Credit Union assets. Ensures the accurate internal and external recording and reporting of financial transactions to state and federal regulatory agencies. Ensures that accounting activities are in compliance with established legal, regulatory, and Credit Union procedures. Assigns, directs, and appraises accounting staff.


Responsibilities include:

  • Oversees data processing and accounting departments; hires, trains, directs, and evaluates team member performance within the departments; recommends promotions/transfers and salary adjustments.
  • Oversees the Treasury, budgeting, audit, tax, accounting, purchasing, real estate, and insurance activities.
  • Prepares financial reports; ensures complete/accurate financial, statistical, and accounting records of the Credit Union.
  • Directs the Credit Union's investment activities as custodian of funds, securities, and assets of the organization; promotes the Credit Union in financial markets to assure sources of capital.
  • Oversees reporting to regulatory authorities and to the Board of Directors.
  • Works with auditors/examiners on year-end and comprehensive audits.
  • Formulates and executes investment policy; prepares financial forecasts.
  • Implements and reviews risk management initiatives.
  • Directs preparation and evaluation of budgets and capital plans; directs receipt, disbursement, and expenditures of money and or capital assets.
  • Analyzes department budgets and allocates operating budget.
  • Provides safekeeping, control and accounting for assets and securities.
  • Reviews operational procedures to obtain optimum efficiency and reduced costs.
  • Develops new business relationships with prospective members and maintains or increases business with current key members by making personal contacts.
  • Writes, reviews, and distributes financial policy and procedure statements to ensure regulatory and policy compliance. Other job-related duties as assigned

Experience: Eight to ten years of similar or related experience.


Education: (1) A bachelor's degree, or (2) achievement of formal certifications recognized in the industry as equivalent to a bachelor's degree (e.g., information technology certifications in lieu of a degree).


Interpersonal Skills: Work frequently involves exercising advanced conflict resolution, giving material presentations, and resolving issues impacting multiple departments or divisions. Role also requires the ability to motivate or influence others as a material part of the role, with a significant level of diplomacy and trust. Obtaining cooperation (internally and/or externally) is an important part of the role and a high level of interpersonal skills is critical to the success of this position.


Other Skills: A degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting. Excellent analytical skills, people skills and self-direction. Proficiency with PC accounting spreadsheet, and word processing software. Background in financial data processing systems preferred.


Physical Requirements: Very light physical effort. Typical of most office jobs. Work in comfortable positions.


Work Environment: Normal light, heat, air, and space in work environment.
