Description
Purpose
A caregiver shall possess the specific skills and knowledge necessary to provide residents residing in the facility with the type of assisted living services necessary to support and respect each resident’s individuality, choices, strengths, and abilities.
Primary Job Responsibilities
- Medication administration or assistance in a resident’s self-administration;
- Assistance with activities of daily living according to the resident’s service plan.
- Providing assistance, supervision or direction of a resident’s personal hygiene, according to the resident’s service plan
- Encourage residents to participate in planned activities and assist with activity programs as designated by the posted activity calendar.
- Maintain resident records that are confidential, legible, dates, accurate, and authenticated ( signed);
- Timely and accurate documentation of significant changes of resident condition and of accidents, emergencies, or injuries that result in the need of medical services;
- Assist with resident dining, including set-up, serving, and bussing tables and
- Perform additional caregiver duties as requested by Executive Director or Wellness Nurse
Professionalism
- Present an image supportive of facility policies, including dress code; and
- Ability to interact with facility management and staff in all departments, families, residents, visitors, volunteers, and gov3ernmental agency representatives.
Safety
- Assist and maintain use of departmental equipment and supplies.
- Use proper body mechanics when performing job duties.
- Understand and adhere to facility, State and Federal safety policies.
- Knowledge of facility disaster plan and participate in staff and resident evacuation drills.

Requirements
- 18 years of age or older;
- Documentation of completion of a caregiver training program approved by the Department of Health Services or the Board of Examiners for Nursing Care Institution Administrators and Assisted Living Facility Mangers;
- Ability to speak, read, write and follow oral and written directions in English;
- Prefer High School diploma or GED certificate;
- Evidence of freedom from infectious tuberculosis;
- Documentation of CPR certification and first aid training;
- Patience, tact, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude towards the elderly;
- Physical abilities to sit, stand, bend, lift, see, hear and move as needed during the teaching and demonstrating of various activities.
- Able to life 50 pounds without assistance
- Able to work under pressure with frequent interruptions
- Valid Arizona driver’s license that will pass background check, and
- Valid Arizona fingerprint clearance card
