What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cardiology Scheduler position at Pioneer Heart Institute?
Job Summary:
Performs a fundamental role that supports the clinical team in providing high quality care for clinic patients following the practices established standards and procedures. These include but are not limited to scheduling various procedures for multiple providers, processing forms, faxing documents, and scheduling follow-up appointments. The physician and staff work together as a team to provide a continuum of health care needs. In addition, the position assignments and scheduled hours may vary to provide quality health care. Schedules patient appointments and procedures. Monitors and maintains physicians' daily schedules. Gives patients information and answers questions. Obtains patient referrals from primary physicians and insurance companies. Schedules at the hospitals when necessary. Enters complete and accurate patient demographics and insurance information. Completes daily tasks for patient care and follow-up. Work is performed in a busy medical office. Interaction with others is constant. Work will require sitting for long periods of time. Constant computer and phone usage is necessary.
Education & Experience:
High school graduate or GED required. Experience to include a minimum of two years customer service and medical office experience, along with 1-year scheduling preferred. Medical Assistant certificate preferred, but not required. Strong organizational and communication skills with the flexibility to work on multiple tasks at one time. Able to communicate with patients and staff. Able to obtain pertinent information to effectively schedule various procedures including but not limited to heart catheterization, transesophageal echocardiogram, cardioversion, transcatheter aortic value replacement, mitral clip, loop recorder, patent foramen ovule, and watchman.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed in a physician office environment. Involves developing and maintaining effective relationships with medical and administrative staff, patients, and the public. Must have excellent communication skills that may involve dealing with difficult, persistent, or upset people. Requires full range of body motion including, but not limited to, bending, lifting, finger dexterity, and eye hand coordination. Requires standing, walking and /or sitting for extended periods of time along with the potential for irregular hours.
