SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGIST - 11-month Position
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- Valid N.Y.S. School Psychology certification or Pending Certification upon graduation
- Experience working as a psychologist with regular and special education students or completion of a school psychology program, that included an internship working with regular and special education students
QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED:
- Evaluation experience
- Counseling experience
- Experience with Multi-Tiered Systems of Supports
DUTIES:
The primary goal of this position is to enable students to fulfill their potential. This may include academic, emotional and social success. The training and tools unique to the school psychologist will be used to supplement interventions by instructional and administrative staff.
- Work on a multi-disciplinary team that includes students, parents, teachers, CSE chairs, counselors, social workders and related service providers.
- Assess ares of need when students are referred to CSE through appropriate diagnostic and testing practices, including classroom observations, psycho-educational evaluations, and Functional-Behavioral Assessments.
- Make appropriate recommendations for all students based on intervention data, and results of diagnostic testing practices noted above.
- Help identify all types of exceptional children and assist in the assessment of appropriate placement for the child.
- Maintain case records on all referred students.
- Recommend behavioral interventions at both the general education and special education level.
- Participate in building level MTSS meetings and Child Study Team meetings.
- Provide school counseling according to IEPs, progress monitor counseling goals and complete progress notes per the report card cycle.
- Provide general education counseling as needed.
NOTE: This position is a district school psychologist position, but Pioneer is specifically looking for a High School, building-based, School Psychologist. That said, you will be part of a team of school psychologists who work together and collaborate often. Mentoring will be provided, as well as a wide-varitey of professional development opportunties. Salary : $56,870 - $60,110
