What are the responsibilities and job description for the Escrow Officer position at Pioneer Title Company?
NATURE OF POSITION
The Escrow Officer is responsible for facilitating the finalization of real estate transactions for the company’s customers by ensuring that all parties involved in the transaction fulfill their legal as well as financial obligations before any funds are disbursed and the escrow transactions are complete. All Escrow Officers exercise independent authority and discretion to review and approve all instruments and transaction details in order to determine, on behalf of the company, whether to authorize the closing of a real estate transaction and transfer of funds.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
General direction and oversight is provided by the Department or Site Manager
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Employees of Pioneer Title are expected to model and foster our core values: Customer Focus – Excellence - Communication - Leadership - Integrity
· Read search requests to determine the type of title evidence required to obtain descriptions of properties
· Resolve any title related issues or disputes by conferring with realtors, buyers, sellers, lending institutional personnel, surveyors, legal counsel, courthouse personnel, etc.
· Prepare documents regarding the list of legal instruments required for a specific piece of land
· Update the records and maintain the systems with appropriate data as needed
· Verify the accuracy of the land related documents
· Oversee and provide direction to assistances as they search records and examine the title, providing necessary guidance
· Examine the closing files for any errors and ensure that the information recorded is executed according to the rules and regulations
· Assess fees to the clients according to the registration of property related documents
· Prepare the closing statements
· Partner with Department or Site Manager to determine discretionary monthly incentive for assistants
· Determine, when appropriate, to waive certain policies and procedures related to transaction requirements
· Oversee and direct the work of Escrow Assistant(s)
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
· Highly motivated self-starter with the ability to work within a team under minimal supervision
· Strong analytical skills and legal knowledge
· Expert reading comprehension
· Strong knowledge and ability in the use of a personal computer and software applications (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) Expert knowledge about legal codes, government procedures, court procedures, executive orders, etc.; ResWare experience a plus
· Strong verbal and written communication skills
· Good listening skills and the ability to effectively understand and communicate with a diverse population
· Ability to multi-task, and effectively work under stressful conditions
· Ability to exercise initiative and sound judgement and to react with discretion under varying conditions
· Proven ability to provide excellent customer service
· Expert persuasion skills
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED
Operate a variety of office equipment including personal computers, programs, telephones, copiers, printers, scanners and calculators. Utilize standard and customized software.
REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A minimum 1 years of experience, with working knowledge of ResWare preferred.
Ability to be bonded/insured, and able to meet all state requirements to become a Notary Public
An offer of employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $55,500.00 - $70,500.00 per year
