What are the responsibilities and job description for the Physical Education/Health Teacher position at Pioneer Valley Chinese Immersion Charter School?
Physical education teacher to teach students in elementary (K-5) grades.
We are seeking energetic, enthusiastic, creative individuals who will communicate well with students, parents, staff and teachers in the school. Applicants must have the skills to work in as a member of a team committed to building and promoting the school's Mandarin Chinese immersion program.
SPECIFIC SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:
•Helps students attain an optimum level of physical education and fitness through regular bi-weekly PE classes compliant with state and national standards.
•Works with classroom teachers and nurses to provide standards-based health classes.
•Develops and builds the physical education program as the school’s needs grow. This includes researching and planning curriculum, equipment and other activities to support the school.
•Assess student performance and writes student report cards twice a year and keeps parents or staff informed throughout the year of any issues.
•Works collaboratively with classroom teachers and other staff.
Qualifications Required:
1. Bachelor’s degree in relevant field.
2. Massachusetts certification or ability to pass required licensing tests within a year of hire
3. Experience delivering physical education classes to students
4. Fluent in oral and written English.
Preferred:
Fluent in Mandarin Chinese
