Job Description:

- establishing a positive learning environment
- identifying and implementing services that address each student’s individual learning style, strengths and challenges
- fostering feelings of empowerment that help students advocate on their own behalf and assume responsibility for their own learning.
PVPA has an opportunity for an Academic Support Teacher for the 2025-2026 school year. We are looking for a reflective practitioner who enjoys working with colleagues and loves working with high school students. Under the direction of the Director of Student Services, you will be responsible for:
- Providing specialized instruction as outlined in student IEPs
- Manage and offer support services based on general academic expectations
- Maintain a quiet, orderly and productive atmosphere and a safe learning environment
- Provide appropriate information and materials for students
- Provide technological support to students as necessary
- Maintain regular contact with parents by phone, meetings or in writing
- Providing consultation and support to classroom teachers regarding accommodations and strategies
- Providing students feedback on classroom teacher academic and social expectations
- Supporting students on specific assignments
- Attending team meetings as necessary
- Writing IEPs
- Producing progress reports quarterly
- Providing testing accommodations for standardized tests
- Keeping accurate attendance records
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will minimally hold a BA degree, be able to pass a background check (CORI/SORI & Fingerprinting) and be computer literate. Preferred qualifications include:
- Master’s degree
- Certification in Special Education 9-12 or ability to obtain within one year
Other Information/Instructions:
Salary Range: $43268 to $68719 annually. Additional $1,000 stipend for individuals who hold a DESE license in subject area and potential for bonus at the end of the fiscal year.
2025-2026 school year consists of 180 school days plus 5 professional development/curriculum work days and a thirty-five hour work week that includes, on average, three class blocks per day of collaborative/independent work time.
