Job Description:
PVPA has an opportunity for a Long-term Substitute Instructional Support Professional for the remainder of the 2024-2025 school year. We are looking for a reflective practitioner who collaborates effectively with colleagues and understands the varied needs of middle and high school students. The ideal candidate is someone who is interested in integrating the arts into the curriculum, teaching with a social justice lens, collaborating with students and colleagues, and has experience in implementing restorative practices in the classroom. Under the direction of the Director of Student Services, you will be responsible for:
- Teach a curriculum that includes student study skills and strategies for homework completion
- Work with content teachers to align study skills strategies with specific assignments
- Be familiar with readings, assessments and assignments for all academic content within a particular grade
- Support student to organize their work, providing them with appropriate resources and materials
- Teach students how to advocate for themselves with regard to managing workload and communicating with teachers
- Monitor student work and supervise students taking make-up tests and quizzes
- Actively and consistently communicate with content teachers about upcoming assignments and expectations
- Echo those expectations to students as part of daily updates
- Review material with students one-on-one or in small groups
- Ensure that students follow school and classroom rules
- Maintain a structures, safe, quiet work environment
- Support students within a general education environment to ensure full implementation of Individual Education Plans
- Tailor support to student’s individual learning style and needs
- Provide Assistance to classroom teachers
- Model appropriate and responsible behavior
- Participate in ongoing professional development, including participation in weekly Collaborative Meeting time with other teachers
Qualifications;
The successful candidate will minimally hold a BA degree, be able to pass a background check (CORI/SORI & Fingerprinting), and be able to provide evidence of successful prior experience working with students in grade 7 through 12.
Other Information/Instructions:
Salary Range: The base rate is $23.27/hour, annualized $30,135. Additional potential for bonus at the end of the fiscal year. 2024-2025 school year consists of 180 school days plus 5 professional development/curriculum work days and a full-time thirty-five hour work week.
