Job Description:
PVPA has an opportunity for a Math Teacher 7/8 Grade for remainder of the 2025-2026 school year. We are looking for a reflective practitioner who collaborates effectively with colleagues and understands the varied needs of students in grades 7 & 8. The ideal candidate will be a reflective practitioner who has strong classroom management skills, is interested in integrating the arts into the curriculum, teaching with a social justice lens, collaborating with students and colleagues, and has experience in implementing restorative practices in the classroom. Our goal is to strengthen the comprehensive math program while supporting and challenging students to develop confidence in math. Under the direction of the Director of Curriculum & Instruction, you will be responsible for:
- Teaching five classes of middle school math
- Use an anti-racist, anti-oppression framework to prepare curricula and instructional materials based on learning objectives.
- Creating a classroom atmosphere that is respectful and adheres to class norms
- Plan curricula and prepare course expectations and materials.
- Supervise students during non-class time (ex:lunch) as required.
- Assess student work and provide timely feedback to students and parents via the PowerSchool online grading system.
- Apply PVPA standards based grading system to report on student course progress and achievement.
- Attend and participate in regular collaborative team meetings with faculty and school-wide professional development activities
- Attend and participate in meetings with students and/or parents as scheduled, including open house and parent-teacher conferences.
- Coordinate with special educators to address the diverse needs of all learners
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications;
The successful candidate will minimally hold a BA degree, be able to pass a background check (CORI/SORI & Fingerprinting) and be computer literate. Preferred qualifications include:
- Two or more years of experience teaching math in a public or private school, preferably at the middle school level.
- Eligible for “Highly Qualified” teacher status (MA Certified or able to pass Communication & Literacy and MS Math MTEL exam within 1 year).
- Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) endorsement
- Experience with middle school students
- Knowledge of discipline curriculum standards
- Interest or experience in the arts
Other Information/Instructions:
Salary Range: Full time $43,268 to $68,719 annually dependent upon degree and experience. Eligible for $1,000 sign-on bonus and relocation reimbursement. Additional $1,000 stipend for any individual who holds a valid DESE license in subject area and potential for bonus at the end of the fiscal year.
2025-2026 school year consists of 180 school days plus 5 professional development/curriculum work days and a thirty-five hour work week that includes, on average, three class blocks per day of collaborative/independent work time.
