Job Description:
PVPA has an immediate opportunity for a paraprofessional for the remainder of the 2024-2025 school year. This position will be working with teachers and students in grades 7-12 to create classroom environments that allow for all types of learning styles. Under the direction of the Director of Student services, you will be responsible for:
- Direct support in academic classes including math, English, science and social studies.
- Supporting students within a general education environment to ensure full implementation of curriculum and Individual Education Plans
- Maintaining a structured and safe learning environment
- Tailoring support to students’ individual learning styles and needs
- Supporting students to organize their work, providing them with appropriate resources and materials
- Supporting students to become self-advocates and take responsibility for their academic performance
- Provide assistance to classroom teachers
- Collect information from teachers regarding students’ performance in the classroom and convey that information to students
- Model appropriate and responsible behavior
- Other duties as required
Qualifications:
The Successful candidate will minimally hold a BA degree, be able to pass a background check (CORI/SORI & Fingerprinting), be able to provide evidence of successful prior experience working with students in grades 7 through 12, and be computer literate.
Other Information/Instructions:
Salary Range: Full year salary base rate is $18.39/hour, annualized $25,518. Additional potential for bonus at the end of the fiscal year. 2024-2025 school year consists of 180 school days plus 5 professional development/curriculum work days and a full-time thirty-seven and one half hour work week.
