Position Summary
Pioneering Medicines is seeking a curious and driven Vice President of Project Leadership and Development with experience in pharma/biotech. This role involves leading early clinical development for multiple assets in the Pioneering Medicines portfolio and earlier projects in the respiratory and immunology sectors, in collaboration with pharmaceutical partners. Essential skills include expertise in translational and experimental medicine, early-stage development, and a deep understanding of respiratory and immunology diseases. This individual will report to the SVP of Project Leadership and Development, Pioneering Medicines.
The Vice President will spearhead the creation and execution of groundbreaking strategies for novel therapeutic medicines, leveraging cutting-edge science to broaden the reach of Flagship Pioneering (FSP) platforms. Emphasizing collaboration, this leader will guide cross-functional teams in developing and implementing robust scientific and strategic plans from clinical candidate identification to human proof-of-concept studies. They will play a crucial role in advancing one of FSP’s key innovation pipelines, driving a portfolio that transforms human health.
This position has two core responsibilities. First, to design clinical development plans and trials for PM medicines, develop innovative protocols and oversee their execution, and build clinical trial teams. Given that PM programs cover multiple therapeutic areas, development experience extending beyond their specific clinical training is necessary. The second responsibility involves participating in product concept explorations, particularly in respiratory and immunology, with pharma partners and Flagship platform companies, as part of our Innovation Supply Chain initiative, and leading the execution of these collaborative R&D projects.
Flagship is built on institutional, entrepreneurial innovation within a small, dynamic company environment. We seek individuals with an entrepreneurial mindset, strong communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a cross-functional team setting.
Key Responsibilities
Flagship Pioneering conceives, creates, resources, and develops first-in-category life science platform companies to transform human health and sustainability. Since its founding in 2000, the firm has originated and fostered the development of more than 100 scientific ventures, resulting in over $34 billion in aggregate value, 500 issued patents, and more than 50 clinical trials for novel therapeutic agents.
Flagship Pioneering and our ecosystem companies are committed to equal employment opportunity regardless of race, color, ancestry, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, disability, gender identity or Veteran status.
Recruitment & Staffing Agencies: Flagship Pioneering and its affiliated Flagship Lab companies (collectively, “FSP”) do not accept unsolicited resumes from any source other than candidates. The submission of unsolicited resumes by recruitment or staffing agencies to FSP or its employees is strictly prohibited unless contacted directly by Flagship Pioneering’s internal Talent Acquisition team. Any resume submitted by an agency in the absence of a signed agreement will automatically become the property of FSP, and FSP will not owe any referral or other fees with respect thereto.
