Piper Life Sciences is seeking a Laboratory Safety Specialist opportunity in Gaithersburg, MD The Laboratory Safety Specialist will be responsible for managing, coordinating, creating, and monitoring company-wide safety protocols within a well-established and sought-after Biopharmaceutical organization.
Responsibilities for the Laboratory Safety Specialist:
- Conducts and supervises policy design involving organizational adherence to laboratory safety protocols, GLP, FDA, OSHA, MSDS, PHS and AWA requirements, and AAALAC & Governmental safety compliance measures
- In charge of employee laboratory safety training, coordinating regulatory compliance meetings, managing PPE inventory, chemical storage protocols, and hazardous waste disposal programs
- Manages safety specialists by overseeing protocol procedures, incident reports, analyzing accident trends, as well as creating corrective action planning for safe laboratory working conditions
- Conduct regular routine laboratory safety audits that include safety officer reports, air monitoring, investigating compliance complaints, and monitoring employee safety violations
Requirements for the Laboratory Safety Specialist:
- Bachelor’s in a Life Sciences field
- 3 years of experience within a Biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or Research laboratory involving professional safety experience
- Experience within OSHA, MSDS, IACUC safety compliance measures are a bonus
