Are you a strategic finance leader with a passion for renewable energy and large-scale EPC projects? We are seeking a Director of FP&A to lead financial planning, forecasting, and project analysis for a leading Renewable Energy EPC firm. Reporting directly to the CFO, this role will be instrumental in shaping financial strategy, optimizing project economics, and driving business growth.
Director of FP&A – Houston, TX
1. Financial Planning, Budgeting & Forecasting
- Oversee the annual budgeting process, quarterly reforecasts, and long-term strategic planning.
- Ensure accuracy in cost estimation and financial forecasting for EPC contracts.
- Work with the CFO to set financial targets and evaluate capital allocation decisions.
2. Project Financial Analysis & Reporting
- Analyze EPC project profitability, cash flow, and cost structures to improve financial performance.
- Track project cost overruns, revenue recognition timing, and variance analysis.
- Develop and monitor KPIs such as project margins, working capital efficiency, backlog, and cash conversion cycles.
3. Financial Modeling & Investment Analysis
- Build scenario-based financial models for project bids, financing structures, and tax incentive strategies.
- Work with business development teams to analyze project return on investment (ROI), internal rate of return (IRR), and payback periods.
- Assess financial impact of ITC, PTC, and Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) incentives.
4. Cash Flow & Working Capital Management
- Oversee cash flow forecasting to ensure the company maintains sufficient liquidity for project execution.
- Work with procurement teams to optimize payment terms and supply chain costs.
- Monitor revenue recognition for EPC contracts to ensure alignment with GAAP and IFRS.
5. Risk Management & Compliance
- Identify financial risks related to cost overruns, project delays, supply chain issues, and regulatory changes.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards (GAAP, IFRS), tax laws, and renewable energy financing regulations.
6. Team Leadership & Development
- Supervise and mentor two lower-level FP&A team members, ensuring accurate and timely financial analysis.
- Provide training and career development opportunities to enhance financial acumen within the team.
- Delegate financial modeling, reporting, and data analysis tasks while ensuring quality control.
- Foster collaboration between FP&A, accounting, project management, and business development teams.
What We’re Looking For
- 7 years of FP&A experience, ideally in renewable energy, EPC, construction, or infrastructure.
- Strong expertise in financial modeling, project finance, and cost analysis.
- Experience with EPC contract accounting (percentage of completion, cost-to-cost, revenue recognition).
- Knowledge of renewable energy tax credits, capital structuring, and IRA incentives.
- Proficiency in Excel, SQL, Anaplan, Adaptive Insights, or similar FP&A tools.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
