About the Company
A leading renewable energy company is seeking a Landfill Operations Manager to oversee the daily management of two landfill gas facilities—one in Kentucky and another in New York State . This company specializes in converting landfill gas into renewable natural gas (RNG), contributing to sustainable energy solutions.
Role Overview
The Landfill Operations Manager will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and compliant operation of landfill gas extraction and treatment systems. The position requires strong technical expertise in landfill gas wellfields, gas treatment technology, and U.S. landfill regulations . The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience optimizing gas recovery, troubleshooting wellfield performance, and overseeing a team of operators and technicians.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Leadership : Manage all aspects of landfill gas extraction and treatment, ensuring compliance with regulations and maximizing gas production.
- Facility Oversight : Supervise two landfill gas sites, initially focusing on the Kentucky facility before potentially transitioning to the New York site.
- Optimization & Troubleshooting : Monitor wellfield data, identify performance issues, and implement solutions to improve gas availability.
- Team Management : Recruit, train, and oversee operators and technicians , ensuring safety and efficiency in daily operations.
- Regulatory Compliance : Ensure all activities align with environmental standards and landfill regulations.
- Technical Expertise : Work with PSA (Pressure Swing Adsorption) technology for RNG purification.
- Documentation & Reporting : Develop operational manuals and maintain accurate records of system performance and compliance data.
Qualifications :
Who We’re Looking For
Experience in landfill gas operations is essential – candidates from oil & gas will not be considered.
Strong knowledge of wellfield management, gas treatment, and environmental compliance .
Hands-on expertise in monitoring gas field performance and troubleshooting .
Background as an operator or technician is valued—an engineering degree is not required .
Must be comfortable working with data, technical documentation, and operational reporting .
Ability to relocate to Kentucky initially (relocation assistance is available).
